Lucie St Jean - Profil

BiographyDscn2456

I live in Quebec’s Eastern Townships. Art and creativity have been part of my life since childhood. I consider myself self-taught even though I attended several immersion workshops with recognized professional artists beetween 1998 to 2008.

Through my painting, I hope you can hear the music in my head. It keeps me authentic. It is the expression of my poetry to bring life to my canvas. Imperfect brush strokes reflect freedom. I want to see the wind moving in my paintings. So, I use color and textures to fill the space and the brush strokes to define my poetic sensitivity. I use acrylic paint, oil paint and Chinese pencils as mediums.

Artist Statement

In my painting, I focus on seizing a moment in time. I want to immortalize silent emotions that move in time. I imagine touching the wind that swells the sails, the wind that shapes the tops of the mountains and the wind that moves everything in its path. I seek communion with the invisible. I open my senses and transcend the material to express serenity and specially freedom in the movement. Painting lets me share my deepest emotions. Painting allows my gestures without judgement, unconditionally. In solitude, we can hear the essential of life. In observing a scene, I see, I feel, I understand.

From 1980 to 1982, I studied Visual Arts at the University of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. From 2003 to 2008, I organized 90 workshops taught by professional artists. I assisted the teachers in helping students. I benefited from the experience in learning new mediums and various styles. I keep up my skills by coaching weekly and teaching various painting worshops.

Other Statement

My artistic approach led me to question my choices in painting. Naturally, water, wind and mountains was my favorite subjects. The words "Feng Shui" means "Wind and Water". It does not take more for me to do research on the subject. I completed a training in Traditional Feng Shui with the Adèle Dionne, Expert from “Dao School”, a school recognized in Europe. I developed my training in BaZi with 3 sources including School The Firm Marip in France and Master Joseph Yu located at Toronto. Since my diploma, I practice BaZi as Traditional Feng Shui that are parts of the Five Great Chinese Arts.
